Zebra at Sunrise

Nxai Pan National Park, Botswana

The anticipation is there every morning when leaving the camp to start another day on safari...and this day was no different. What was in store for us in Nxai Pan National Park, Botswana? Little did we know the decisive moment was to arrive out of nowhere. The zebra (Equus quagga) were in the midst of their annual migration, and we were facing west watching the long line of animals heading to the bore hole for a drink. Suddenly our intrepid guide, Moses, whipped the vehicle around to face the rising sun and there before us was one of those magical moments -- an iconic shot of the rising orange African sun, zebra with glowing manes and a flock of birds overhead.
